@Akshat Sir in my opinion the main reason is that it is mostly written in our books that this invention/discovery was discovered or invented by this western scientist in 19th Century or even before. Some Indian students at an early stage might not even know that Indian astronomers, mathematicians had discovered them all already as it is stated in the Veda. I myself was not aware that many of the discoveries that we say was discovered by western scientists was actually discovered many many centuries ago by Indians! They discovered the earth was round as stated in the Veda, when Lord Vishnu took the avatar of Varaha (boar avatar) he used his tusks to carry earth back into its place in the universe and away from the cosmic ocean. It is clearly stated in the Veda that the earth was described as round. Although due to the Internet and other sources, more and more Indians are getting to know more about the scientific side of India and its discoveries.
